While taking a stroll in a local park in Coral Springs, I wandered into the Butterfly Garden. I had unsuccessfully taken photos of some moths and dragonflies. However on my way out, a Monarch butterfly perched on this flower and posed for me! I zoomed in all the way. I love how the butterfly is in focus while the background is blurred.

Some people eat to live, but i live to eat. This last semester, my girlfriend spend some time abroad in Florence Italy, she had a great time learning about different aspects of Italian culture, especially cooking. Everybody likes pizza... Upon my girlfriend's arrival back home, I felt inspired to create my own pizza! I made everything from scratch, and even used fresh dough from a local grocery store. I made the sauce using San Marzano tomatoes, sauteed onions and garlic, with some fresh herbs. I also put some slices of fresh mozzarella on top.(and of course fresh basil!) For a first time pizza, this came out amazing! I will definitely be making it again soon.

NYC in February
As I have mentioned before, I love New york! I visit a few times a year, and I always try to capture a new perspective each visit. I love visiting Central Park, and that's where I ended up taking a stroll this morning. However, today I decided to go to the North part of the park, somewhere I have not been before. This part of the park has more hills and less trees than the rest. It was a beautiful day, hope you enjoy my captures!

Super Bowl Advertisements
From a Marketing standpoint, I was very intrigued by Coca-Cola's "Race" commercial, in which three groups of people are chasing after a giant bottle of Coke in the dessert. The cool part about this advertisement is that the consumer decides who wins the race by voting online. This is a unique commercial because it allows the consumer to be as involved as they like. They could simple view the commercial and move on, or decide to participate in the voting. Having the consumers get involved is great for building relationships, which is one of the main goals of marketing. You want to lure your consumers in and keep them interested.
On the other hand Pepsi, Coke's main competitor, took a different advertising approach. Their commercial takes place at a house party, but then the parents come home early. At first they are very upset, but then their son explains that they are just trying a new Pepsi product. When the father tastes it, he goes from upset to pleasantly surprised that the Pepsi is so delicious. In my opinion, Coke did a better job of interacting with its consumers, while Pepsi went for a more traditional ad (a quick laugh, which is a short-term plan.) However, Coke's ad was more long term since it attempted to keep consumers busy with their product.

The High Line
Manhattan, New York
The High Line is a 1-mile park built section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad which runs along the lower west side of Manhattan. While eating lunch with two friends on a midsummer's day, one suggested taking a walk on the High Line to help burn off some of the calories from our meal. One of the reasons I love New York City is that when you get stressed in the mess of it all, there are a plethora of parks and spots you can get away for some quiet time. The High Line ended up being a great place to get out of streets and to get a new perspective on this amazing city! Below are a few photos from our walk. All of these shots were taken on my iPhone 4S. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of the railroad, but that gives me a reason to go back! :)

UCF Reflection Pond
Pictured below is the University of Central Florida's Reflection pond. Located near the center of campus, the Reflection Pond is a popular place for students and visitors alike to relax, recuperate from a busy day, and to of course, reflect...
For this photo I used a tripod along with a 20 second shutter speed, which gives the water a silky look.

Belvedere Castle
Through this Blog I will be taking you on a journey with me as I learn to become a better photographer. I will post photos I have taken, with a brief description explaining where, when, and why I decided to shoot it.
I frequently visit New York, New York. I am drawn to its food, people, aesthetics, and its unique aura. The big city is a great place for taking photos, and there is always an interesting story to be told.
Belvedere Castle - Central Park, Manhattan.
This castle was built in 1869, with its main purpose to be an observational tower. There are beautiful views in many direction, including the famous Great Lawn. There is so much to do in Central Park, from nature trails to live entertainment, to even climbing to the top of Belvedere Castle! There will be many more photos of New York to come!
