From a Marketing standpoint, I was very intrigued by Coca-Cola's "Race" commercial, in which three groups of people are chasing after a giant bottle of Coke in the dessert. The cool part about this advertisement is that the consumer decides who wins the race by voting online. This is a unique commercial because it allows the consumer to be as involved as they like. They could simple view the commercial and move on, or decide to participate in the voting. Having the consumers get involved is great for building relationships, which is one of the main goals of marketing. You want to lure your consumers in and keep them interested.
On the other hand Pepsi, Coke's main competitor, took a different advertising approach. Their commercial takes place at a house party, but then the parents come home early. At first they are very upset, but then their son explains that they are just trying a new Pepsi product. When the father tastes it, he goes from upset to pleasantly surprised that the Pepsi is so delicious.
In my opinion, Coke did a better job of interacting with its consumers, while Pepsi went for a more traditional ad (a quick laugh, which is a short-term plan.) However, Coke's ad was more long term since it attempted to keep consumers busy with their product.
